Collection on Tour
Until early-2014 part of the Mauritshuis collection will be on tour in Japan, the United States and Italy. One of the travelling paintings is Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring.
A selection of 35 paintings is now in the United States and will be exhibited in San Francisco, Atlanta, and New York. Earlier these paintings were exhibited in Tokyo and Kobe. The tour will conclude in the spring of 2014 in Italy. By mid-2014, when the renovated Mauritshuis opens its doors to the public, the paintings will be back in the Netherlands.
More than 100 paintings will remain in The Hague throughout the renovation. These Masterpieces from the Mauritshuis are on display at the Gemeentemuseum, The Hague.
United States: San Francisco and Atlanta
In San Francisco and Atlanta, 35 paintings will be exhibited, including Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer, The Goldfinch by Carel Fabritius, ´As the Old Sing, So Pipe the Young´ and Girl Eating Oysters by Jan Steen, Laughing Boy by Frans Hals and Rembrandt’s Self-Portrait.
