The painting Saul and David has been carefully restored and is the centrepiece of the exhibition Rembrandt? The Case of Saul and David, which is presented in the exhibition hall of the Mauritshuis from 11 June to 13 September 2015.

With an e-ticket, you needn't go through the cash desk. However, these admission tickets do not grant you priority at possible queues outside and in front of the exhibition room. Museum Card bearers, Friends of the Mauritshuis, Rembrandt pass bearers and ICOM pass bearers do not need an e-ticket.

Exhibition room

Rembrandt? The case of Saul and David can be seen from 11 June through 13 September in the exhibition room on the first floor of our new Royal Dutch Shell Wing.


During Rembrandt? The case of Saul and David, photography is not allowed in our exhibition room. Photography – without flash – is permitted in the rest of the museum. 

Guided Tours

During Rembrandt? The case of Saul and David, we offer several different guided tours in combination with the exhibition. No tours will be given in the exhibition room itself.

Rembrandt tour - Rembrandt is the most important painter from the Dutch Golden Age. During this tour, you will explore the Rembrandts in our permanent collection at length. From Simeon's Song of Praise and The Anatomy Lesson to Homer and the late self-portrait - you will see in a nutshell why Rembrandt was the greatest of his time.

The tour will guide you through the Rembrandts in the permanent collection in about 45 minutes. Afterwards, you will get an introduction to the exhibition about Rembrandt's Saul and David, which you may then visit at your own leisure.
