The International Friends of the Mauritshuis are delighted to invite you to a special evening lecture of Ceramics in the Frame on Thursday 19 November. Our guest speaker, Anne Haworth, will take us on a fascinating journey into the world of ceramics and porcelain as seen through the paintings from the Mauritshuis collection.
Anne brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to this subject through her many years of experience as a ceramics specialist at the auction houses Bonhams and Christie’s, time spent living in China and a distinguished career as a historian and lecturer for the Arts Society and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
In her lecture, Anne will reveal the exquisite porcelain and pottery depicted in many of the beautiful paintings in the Mauritshuis. She will invite us to look beyond the canvas and discover the stories, craftsmanship and cultural connections that these often-overlooked details can reveal.
It promises to be an engaging and illuminating evening, offering a fresh perspective on familiar masterpieces. There will, of course, be plenty of time for questions and discussion.
