Painted for the Drapers’ Guild in Haarlem, 1546; ceded to the Dutch State by the city of Haarlem, 1805; transferred at an unknown date and found in the attic in 1875; on long-term loan to the Frans Hals Museum, Haarlem, since 1917 (this loan proceeded via the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage, until 2013)
