NN Group partners with the Mauritshuis

21 Jan 2016

NN Group and the Mauritshuis in The Hague have signed a three-year collaboration agreement. The partnership aims to combine forces and generate enthusiasm for the Mauritshuis to a broader and more international audience.

At the heart of the partnership is a desire to enable exhibitions, attract new target audiences and put the Mauritshuis on a more international map.

Accessibility

Since the 1950s, NN has been involved in cultural sponsorship. They want to help make art accessible to everyone, regardless of age or background. ‘The partnership with the Mauritshuis is in keeping with our desire to breathe new life into our relation with The Hague’s cultural institutions, after moving the NN Group headquarters to The Hague. We are proud to support an internationally renowned museum like the Mauritshuis in this way, and we look forward to an inspiring collaboration in which we can further shape our common aspirations,’ says Dorothee van Vredenburch, member of the Management Board of NN Group.

Storage exhibit

In 2016, Nationale-Nederlanden, part of NN Group, will sponsor the exhibit ‘In and Out of Storage’. It’s an exceptional opportunity to gain insight into the goings on behind the scenes at the Mauritshuis. Visitors will be able to see a part of the collection that normally remains hidden, because it is in storage.

Emilie Gordenker, director of the Mauritshuis: ‘We really look forward to our partnership with NN Group. The two institutions complement each other beautifully, and, thanks to NN Group’s support, we will launch exciting new initiatives. The national and international positioning of the Mauritshuis is an important part of the partnership. We want everyone to recognise the Mauritshuis as the premier museum for Dutch Golden Age paintings, both because of the wonderful collection and our knowledge in the field.’
