It is with great pleasure that the International Friends of the Mauritshuis invite you to the October evening lecture, presented by Senior Curator Quentin Buvelot, to celebrate the launch of the museum’s latest exhibition – a remarkable presentation of 25 world-class masterpieces from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection in Madrid.
This unique exchange marks an exciting first for both museums, bringing together an extraordinary group of paintings united by one enduring theme: love.
From the northern masters Jan van Eyck and Albrecht Dürer, to the great artists of the south, including El Greco, Bronzino, Antonello da Messina and Piero della Francesca, these masterpieces offer a fascinating journey through the many expressions and meanings of love in European art.
As always, Quentin will take us beyond the paintings themselves, sharing his expert insights and revealing the fascinating stories behind this special exchange between two museums. An exceptional exhibition, a remarkable story and an evening not to be missed!
