Looking forward to Christmas, but not to that never-ending dinner with your boring aunt and your uncle who wants to know why you’re still single? Get your Christmas off to a better start at Maurits& Caro on 3 December! Come to the Mauritshuis for an evening of art, Christmas baubles and music – with a rebellious twist.

Caro, who you might know from Caro Emerald and The Jordan, is wrapping up the Christmas story in an unexpected package. Mary as the epitome of pure innocence? That story is getting old. Throughout history, women in art have often been portrayed as either sexy temptresses (men, beware!) or saintly virgins (sex? Ew!).

Tonight, we’re shaking off those stereotypes like pine needles from a Christmas tree. Expect iconic Christmas hits and a drag disco bingo, but also a philosophy session with Nina Pierson, a sensual dance workshop and lightning tours exploring hidden rebellion in art.

Get your ticket now for just €15 and celebrate Christmas with Caro!

Schedule:
19:00 – 19:30 | Arrival
19:30 – 20:00 | Welcome and introductions
20:00 – 22:00 | Workshops and activities
22:00 – 23:00 | Closing, post-event drinks, and wrap-up

Fancy a bite to eat?

You can do so at the Mauritshuis Brasserie! Caro has opted for Surinamese cuisine: for €18.50 per person (excluding drinks), you can enjoy a delicious Roti with chicken or a vegetarian Roti. Please book your table by emailing [email protected]. You are welcome to arrive from 6:00 PM onwards.

About Maurits&

It is evening, but the doors of the Mauritshuis are slightly ajar. Soft light in the galleries washes over the paintings. In the foyer, music is playing, and from the bar you can hear a cocktail being shaken. You’ve never experienced the museum like this before.

Get to know the Mauritshuis through the eyes of a striking and influential guest curator. Experience a unique and inspiring evening filled with art, remarkable stories and encounters, music, workshops, and plenty of conviviality. The guest director shapes the program and is given full creative freedom.

Yoga, music, dance, spoken word. No two editions are ever the same. For one evening, the guest director becomes the “owner” of the Mauritshuis. An honourable role, taken seriously.
