Maurits& The Offline Club

A night offline among the masterpieces

02 Jul 2026, 18:45 - 22:30
Mauritshuis

Please note: this event is hosted in Dutch, but the majority of activities are enjoyable/designed to be inclusive for non-Dutch speakers too.

We wake up, and the first thing we do is check our smartphones. At concerts, family dinners, or museum visits… our phones are always there, everywhere. But what happens when you truly go offline for a while, and take a break from the constant notifications and fast pace of life?

On Thursday evening July 2, The Offline Club transforms the Mauritshuis into a phone-free oasis where calm, creativity, play, connection, and mindfulness take center stage. Read a book or journal beside Girl with a Pearl Earring, drift away to live music, have meaningful conversations with like-minded people, join creative workshops such as a slow art experience, and reflect on your life surrounded by art.

During this special Maurits& edition, you’ll step back in time for a moment, to an era when life moved more slowly, people truly saw one another, and phones didn’t take center stage.* The first hour takes place in shared silence: enjoy the museum in silence, unwind and connect with yourself through offline activities. The rest of the evening is about connection and meeting others.

*At the start of the evening, you’ll hand in your phone to The Offline Club. Your mobile will enjoy a peaceful nap in our supervised phone hotel. Not comfortable with that? That’s perfectly fine too. You can simply switch off your phone and tuck it away deep in your bag.

Time table

Disclaimer: By entrusting us with your beloved phone, you’re placing quite a bit of trust in humanity. Good to know: if it suddenly disappears, learns to fly, or mysteriously breaks, The Offline Club cannot be held responsible. Not ready to let it go? No problem. Just switch it off and keep it out of sight.

About The Offline Club

The Offline Club, born in Amsterdam, is a global community and events organization that invites people to spend time without their phones and make genuine connections. They host offline experiences in cafés, churches, and museums where you can relax, play, talk, and spend time together - without digital distractions. The goal is to foster calm, creativity, and human interaction in a time when screens dominates our lives.

About Maurits&

It is evening, but the doors of the Mauritshuis are slightly ajar. Soft light in the galleries washes over the paintings. In the foyer, music is playing, and from the bar you can hear a cocktail being shaken. You’ve never experienced the museum like this before.

Get to know the Mauritshuis through the eyes of a striking and influential guest curator. Experience a unique and inspiring evening filled with art, remarkable stories and encounters, music, workshops, and plenty of conviviality. The guest director shapes the program and is given full creative freedom.

Yoga, music, dance, spoken word. No two editions are ever the same. For one evening, the guest director becomes the “owner” of the Mauritshuis. An honourable role, taken seriously.
