Celebrate the spring vacation at the Mauritshuis! Have you already seen it? Buds in the trees and emerging snowdrops, crocuses and daffodils. Did you know you can also find many flowers and animals in our paintings? Come and have a look soon and make your visit to the museum a pleasant day out with fun activities.
Children up to the age of 18 always have free admission to the museum.
Scavenger hunts through the Mauritshuis (4+ and 7+)
Go on a treasure hunt through our museum together! For children from 4 years upwards, you will go on a search for the animals in the paintings together. Get tips from forest ranger Tim, biologist Auke-Florian and, of course, Maurits Mouse!
For children aged 7 and over, you will explore, look and talk together. You may not have noticed before, but there are many children in the paintings. What are they doing? What are they talking about? Is everything you see correct?
Get free activitybooks from the service desk in the Foyer. Don't forget to pick up a little surprise at the service desk afterwards.
Activities for kids: Jill Tour (7+)
Visit the Mauritshuis with illustrator Jill Schirnhofer. Did you know that the Mauritshuis is her favorite museum? She created a fun filled tour along her favorite paintings. There's also an audio tour where Jill tells you what she sees and what catches her attention.
With this booklet, children aged 7 and older learn to look at paintings, from colourful bouquets of flowers to Jill's favorite painting: Girl with a pearl earring. In the booklet, which contains tons of playful illustrations, there are, many fun observation and drawing assignments. You can even try your hand at drawing your own fantasy museum or favorite pose.

About Jill
Jill Schirnhofer, Jill Rocket, or simply Jill, is an illustrator, writer, programme maker and actor. Drawing is one of her great passions. Jill designed her first school diary when she was just 15. Her unique design did not go unnoticed. A Dutch publisher was keen to manufacture the design, and so her label My Life is Sweet was born. She has since created an entire range of school stuff for the label.
In 2014 she started making her kids’ programme Jill, broadcast on Dutch national television (Avrotros Zapp NPO 3), in which she gives creative advice on fashion, drawing and – of course – crafting.
