Mauritshuis Murals

We break down the walls of our museum and bring the art outside. Six phenomenal street artists, including Nina Valkhoff, Julien de Casabianca, Super A and Collin van der Sluijs, let themselves be inspired by the paintings from our collection and turn them into life-size murals. They paint them on various walls in The Hague. Day and night for all to see.

Super A and Collin van der Sluijs

The Hague has its first Mauritshuis Mural! Dutch artist duo Super A & Collin van der Sluijs were inspired by Melchior d’Hondecoeter’s 1680 painting Chickens and Ducks from the Mauritshuis collection. Come and see the mural at number 8 Lonnekerstraat, in the Morgenstond neighbourhood.

The Hague now has its second Mauritshuis Mural! Inspired by Peter Paul Rubens’ Old Woman and Boy with Candles (1616-1617) from the Mauritshuis collection, Julien de Casabianca has created a mural opposite Vrederustlaan 96 (Shalomchurch) in the Bouwlust en Vrederust neighbourhood.

Colombian artist GLEO is crazy about flowers, and she photographs them wherever she goes. She has a favourite in every country she’s been too. So it’s no surprise that she chose a floral still life – Vase of Flowers in a Window by Ambrosius Bosschaert – as the inspiration for her mural. Visit her Mauritshuis Mural on one of the Willem Dreespark flats, opposite Moerwijk station!
