On 22 October 2025, a special stamp sheet featuring Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring was launched in Tokyo, Japan. The sheet was issued to celebrate 425 years of trade relations between the Netherlands and Japan, marking a long history of exchange, curiosity and appreciation between the two countries.
This collaboration is a beautiful reminder that the Netherlands and Japan have been connected for centuries and continue to find one another through art and culture.
The edition was limited to 30,000 sheets and sold out within 24 hours.
"Thank you for the great collaboration between our two institutions, spanning several hundreds of years of art and creativity! Great to see Vermeer and Rembrandt bridging Japan and our country via a very special stamp sheet." - Gelmer Leibbrandt, CEO Joh Enschede
