Presskit Roelant Savery's Wondrous World

Roelant Savery, Twee Paarden En Hun Begeleiders, 1628 Stedelijke Collectie, Abby Kortrijk; Two Horses And Grooms, 1628 City Collection Abby Kortrijk

From February 8 and May 20 2024 you can emerge yourself into the magical world of Roelant Savery.

This exhibition introduces the visitor to this versatile artist through over 40 paintings and drawings from our own collection and numerous international loans.

Savery was a pioneer in many areas, introducing various new themes to Dutch painting. He created the first Dutch still life of flowers and was the painter of the legendary (extinct) dodo. He was also the first artist to sketch ordinary people on the street. His painted landscapes often have a fairy-tale quality, featuring ancient ruins and wondrous views.

On this page, you'll find press releases about the exhibition and visual material.
