Pennen Over Penselen Boek

Pen Meets Paint is a commemorative publication created specially for our 200th anniversary. We asked a host of Dutch and international authors to write a piece inspired by our collection. The result was this unique book featuring work by no fewer than 200 writers.

Two art forms – literature and the visual arts – come together in Pen Meets Paint. This huge book contains 200 short contributions, ranging from drawings, poems and stories to a recipe associated with a favourite painting – it’s all in there!

One work of art from the Mauritshuis and no more than 200 words for each author. Never before has a single publication featured so many authors. They include Isabel Allende, Margaret Atwood, Nilgün Yerli, Nicci French, Arnon Grunberg, Nino Haratischwili, Hilary Mantel, Connie Palmen, Sholeh Rezazadeh, Simon Schama, Donna Tartt and Adriaan van Dis, to name but a few.

Pen Meets Paint is available from our museum shop, Waanders Publishing and Bruna.
